Each of us has a stress threshold. The amount and type of stress that you can handle will be different than the amount and type of stress your neighbor can handle.

This threshold is actually the limit we can tolerate without making a conscious effort to deal with it. Think of it like a pain threshold. Many people have the ability to ignore tremendous amounts of pain, while my life comes to a complete halt because of a paper cut. Once we reach our stress threshold we need to make a conscious decision to help ourselves or find outside help.

We can’t often control what causes our stress, but we can control how we react to stress. Experiences, upbringing, situations, attitudes and beliefs are all factors in determining our threshold and what methods are effective for us to deal with it. When we reach our threshold, we are usually experiencing many causes of stress all at once. We feel overwhelmed. Sometimes we feel so overwhelmed that an ordinarily non-stressful situation suddenly becomes a stressful one.

The first step is to acknowledge where you are and make that conscious effort to react in a positive way. Prayer, breathing techniques, meditation, aromatherapy, soothing sounds are just a few simple ways that help many people deal with their situations more effectively. Simple techniques can help you to identify the cause or causes of stress as well as help you to deal with them.

This site can help you to find ways to relieve your stress.
<!--

When you're traveling through the dark tunnel of a catastrophic life event, you may not agree. You may say or hear things such as, "There can't possibly be a bright side to this". There is a bright side, however.

The catastrophic life event my family experienced, brought us closer together. I am 10 years younger than my brother and 12 years younger than my sister, so to become closer to them is quite life-altering.

This event caused me to become a stronger person.

This event caused me to have a greater capacity for acceptance of others.

This event caused our friends to come closer together as a community.

This event has allowed me to have a perpetual 8 year old niece. I can count how often I've heard people say, "I wish they wouldn't grow up". My niece has never committed any adult mishaps. She will always be the bubbly, giggly, squirmy 8 year old who never offends anyone, who never sits still, who never has the opportunity to worry about her mortgage, who never needs to be terribly concerned if her responsibilities aren't met. She is my perpetual 8 year old.

These may seem like bones. They certainly do not make up for the life she could have had. But a bright side is what we often need to be able to cope and get through that dark tunnel.

Try to see whatever bright side you can. Try to make it count. The little things are often more necessary than the big things, so don't expect the bright side to be better than what should have been, it is simply a way to look at life on the other side of the tunnel.

Hang on to your bones, don't let them go. Each one has great meaning and all of them put together will allow more light in your life. Each of my bones taken separately are very valuable. When I put them together, I can smile.

Try to SMILE it will help.

If you have any suggestions or stories they are welcome here.

If you would like ideas to help you through any sort of stress, whether it be nothing more than an irritant or something catastrophic, please see my site for suggestions.

Each of us is a unique individual, what works for your friend may not work for you. I offer may suggestions and ideas for you to try, see what works for YOU and forget the rest.

http://cgx2.cashhosters.com/ or my mirror site
<!--

The causes are often overlooked, the effects are often far reaching. Each of us has our own stress threshold, and each of us has our own personal methods.

There are simple and complex ways to deal with stress and live a more fulfilling, enjoyable life. The simple methods are often the most necessary ones, but are often the most neglected ones. Simple touches, simple breathing, simply drinking water, simply turning on soothing music can make all the difference between an emotional meltdown and a clear headed decision.

Complex methods are usually forced upon us in ways we can't ignore. The unexpected loss of a job, a family illness or death, even a natural disaster will not allow us to ignore the need to deal with our issues on a more complex level.

Explore some stress relief options, and see if the world looks a little brighter.
<!--
